When I was in first grade, I can remember a time when I took a book out of my backpack to read during recess. Some girls from my class saw me, and began to tease me for carrying around a book that I clearly couldn’t read. “It has chapters in it. We know you can’t read that. None of us can.”
“Yes I can” I told them, and I could, because I had been reading with my parents before bed every night since I could remember, and any other time I could find.
“Prove it. Read something out loud then” they taunted.
“Well, you wouldn’t know if I’m actually reading it anyway, because you can’t read what it says”. They left me alone after that.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved reading any book that would take me away somewhere else. As I’ve grown up, my interests have expanded to include many other genres and media, but reading is still a great passion.
Below I’ve listed my favourite books, blogs, and everything in between, so that you can enjoy them too. I’m always looking for new and interesting material, so I’ll be updating this page as I find it. And if you think I’ve missed something, I’d love your input too.

I’m reading Shantaram at the moment too. I’m only about 200 pages in, but I’m loving it so far! Have you read The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns? If not, do so now. They’re amazing!
Really glad I stumbled across your blog, it’s really interesting reading the views and opinions of someone in a similar stage of their career to me.
Hey Sam!
I haven’t read either one of those books, but I remember a long time ago someone telling me to read Kite Runner. I’m definitely adding those to my list. And I’m also only about 350 pages into Shantaram, but I love the detail on all of the Indian culture!
Also, thanks for the lovely words. You made my day! Good luck with your career and I hope you’ll stop back here sometime
Love this page! When I was in elementary school I was that girl who walked down the hallway reading a book, thank goodness I never ran into anyone! Really like your list of followed blogs, I definitely would suggest that you try out http://www.thedailymuse.com/ . They are a great group of young and ambitious women working to “change the ratio”. Glad I found this blog and happy to be a new follower.
