This week, the little things that are making me happy are brought to you by my new-found photography time. I’m definitely still learning the ins and outs of this hobby, which is especially difficult when I live in a basement apartment… and am only ever home after sundown. Oh, the joys of unnatural lighting! At least I have high ceilings.
Photography is definitely tricky when you’ve only got bulb-light to work with, but it’s helped out by the fact that I’ve got some pretty cute (and yummy) things to brighten up my life these days. Homemade cupcakes always make me happy, especially vegan ones from my new cookbook. Candle light is another way I like to offset the harshness of overhead lighting, and I especially love the little jewel on the lid of this candle. It just adds a bit more pizazz to an already pretty decoration.
I picked up these edible glitter stars the other day because my best friend’s little sister challenged me to a cupcake bake-off. Never one to take a challenge lightly, I decided I needed to step up my cupcake decorating game. This also means I’ll probably have to actually wait for my cupcakes to cool, so as not to have the icing melt off the top (such a tragedy).
I’ve also fallen in love recently with tie-top blouses, and have expanded my collection drastically for work. Isn’t the pattern on this one so pretty? With that and my new love ring (which I got here), I just feel so glamorous. Which is sooo the opposite of corporate engineering, but hey, I’m breaking the mold here. Someone’s gotta do it.
