Sunday Rituals

{time to chill}

{this is what I feel like sometimes...}

Sunday night is quickly becoming my favourite night of the week. After a weekend of fun and friends, the serial careerist in me really looks forward to sorting my life out for the next 7 days, planning lunches, doing dishes, and putting away the pile of clothes that inevitably didn’t make it back to my closet last week.

Despite the fact that I’m invariably tired, my favourite thing to do on veg night is to drag my laptop into the bathroom, put on a mindless movie (like this one–didn’t Hilary Duff already do this like 10 years ago?), run a hot bath, and throw in some fancy-schmancy bath fizzies. I’m not even sure what they do exactly, other than fizz, but I feel so luxurious that it doesn’t really matter. Sunday nights as a student meant cramming in all of the homework you’d been putting off for the last two days. But Sunday night as a working lady? Awesome.

{simple + mellow}

{DIY bath fizzies--so my thing}

Having never really been a proponent of the bath tub before this winter, I’ve definitely rekindled my love for the soak. It’s surprisingly relaxing, and because I don’t have a hot-tub or jacuzzi, it serves a greater purpose for my mountain-ravaged legs. Add some candles to set the ‘chill-out’ mood, and I’m able to regain my concentration and focus on the bigger picture for the coming week. It’s so easy to get caught up in projects and menial tasks, but as long as I remember to take time out for me, everything will come just a little bit easier. Everyone needs their down time, even a future CEO/badass science chick.

What do you guys do to relax and unwind from your life?

    Those bath fizzies are so cute! Sounds like a great ritual. I like to relax with a book to unwind-similar, just in the bed, not the bath! It’s great that you take time to relax before the week starts.

      It’s such a fantastic way to unwind, isn’t it? What book are you reading currently? I’m always looking for new ones to add to my list :)
